Tiger Woods Is Back With Masters Win-First Major in 11 Years

Tiger Woods Is Back With Masters Win-First Major in 11 Years

Woods had not tasted success at his beloved Augusta National since winning a fourth Green Jacket 14 years ago, and he defied the critics who suggested he would never add to his tally of 14 major championships having endured a wait of over 10-and-a-half years for No 15.

Starting the final round two shots behind the lead, Woods bogeyed the last but a two-under-par 70 gave him a 13-under-par (275) total on Sunday, with Dustin Johnson (68), Xander Schauffele (68) and Brooks Koepka (70) tied second one shot behind. "Even when guys were shooting 64 on Saturday, I was just kind of going around, just handling my business, work your way up the board and make sure that I keep myself in the event".

"The previous champions' dinner I was really struggling".

Some of golf's best and brightest were also quick off the mark in congratulating their rival, including Jack Nicklaus - whose record of 18 major titles is being chased down by Woods - and Great White Shark, Greg Norman.

Sam was 12 months old when Woods won his last major, at the 2008 US Open, while Charlie was born a year later after his Torrey Pines triumph. I know that I made a few mistakes the last couple tournaments, but it just felt like it was there.

He may have won the Masters tournament, but we also think this won for Cutest Moment too! 79-year-old Nicklaus posted on Twitter. The two double bogeys ended his Green Jacket bid. Leader Francesco Molinari (-13) is scheduled to go off with Tony Finau (-11) and Tiger Woods (-11) at 9:20 a.m. ET.

Molinari had played near flawless golf through the first three rounds, carding a single bogey, but on Sunday a bogey along with the two doubles during a miserable final round of two-over 74 left him two back of the victor.
