Chicago White Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays, 5/12/19 MLB Predictions & Odds

After Stroman was pulled from Saturday's game while battling through a seventh-inning jam, the Jays starter had a somewhat heated exchange with manager Charlie Montoyo and pitching coach Pete Walker, with all parties playing down the situation after the game.

The sweep at the hands of the Twins gave the Blue Jays eight losses in nine games. "He looked strong, even in the seventh". He earned a win Tuesday at Cleveland with eight strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings as part of a 2-0 win over the Indians.

Covey allowed four runs and three hits in 4 2/3 innings. Sanchez needed 31 pitches to get out the frame, allowing a pair of hits and two walks. I've said that time and time again. "(Max) Kepler gets a ground ball that he beats out, Garver swings on an 0-2 or 2-2 pitch that could have been the third out of the inning. "You know, give up three runs, put myself in a hole at the beginning of the game".

That blow moved Freddy Galvis to third base.

"He kept his composure and did a really nice job", Renteria said. "Just that one inning".

The Jays have won just twice in their past 12 contests and will have Monday off to reset before opening a six-game road trip with two games in San Francisco beginning Tuesday, followed by four more games versus the White Sox, this time on Chicago's South Side.

"We didn't want to bring somebody up who has been struggling in the minors", Montoyo said. "When you're down by four, it seems like 10. That's were we are right now". He went six innings, surrendering five runs on nine hits with two walks and one hit batsmen.

At least Sanchez only left three innings for a bullpen forced into a start by Clay Buchholz's injury Friday, and carrying an excessive load since Shoemaker's season-ending knee injury. He struck out 11, one shy of his career high, including five of his first six. In the third inning, center fielder Leury Garcia exited the game with lower back stiffness after he slammed into the unpadded scoreboard on the right field wall while hauling in a Justin Smoak lineout that likely would have gone for extra bases.

Chicago scored all five of its runs in the fourth inning, thanks to Alonso's two-run home run and a three-run shot by Anderson.

Top prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. snapped a three-game hitless streak and an 0-for-12 slump with a single in the ninth. I still like the White Sox I recommended, though I am slightly less bullish on them now tnan I was earlier this morning.

Detroit Tigers second baseman Gordon Beckham made a ridiculously hard play look nearly easy.
