Griezmann Will Leave Atletico Madrid

However, a little less than a year after committing his future to Diego Simeone's side, he's chose to leave the club.

Godin's departure and anticipated move to join Inter Milan in Serie A prompted criticism from former Atletico captain Gabi, who said the club's contract policy for players over the age of 30 was "unfair".

"@AntoGriezmann He has informed the club that he will not continue as rojiblanco next season", a tweet read.

After Griezmann came close to signing for Manchester United last summer, Old Trafford chiefs may be tempted to make a fresh offer to sign the striker who has a release clause of around €104m in his current contract.

Since turning down Barcelona before the 2018 World Cup, Griezmann has had a typically strong year - though his goal numbers are lower than usual.

"Thanks for everything, from the bottom of my heart", Griezmann said.

He said: "It has been five incredible years, thank you very much for everything, I carry you in my heart".

In the video, Griezmann went on to say that he chose to leave the club to seek a new challenge, and made the decision after a meeting with manager Diego Simeone and club CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin.

"I have chose to leave, see other things, have other challenges and with great difficulty, this is what I feel and I need".

"In our careers, we have to take decisions that we sometimes regret", Umtiti told French TV programme Telefoot. "He is at a team that plays for him".
