HTC isn't dead yet, promises Android 9 updates this month

"U11 rollout will begin late May, 2019; U11+ will begin late June, 2019; U12+ will begin mid-June, 2019".

HTC had earlier announced back in March some details about the Android 9 Pie update and the status of the OS on it's devices. The next smartphone to get the update will be the U12 Plus smartphone followed by the U11 Plus in June. "Please note, certain regions & carrier deployment may affect these dates", HTC announced on Twitter. But that doesn't mean HTC has abandoned its phone business altogether.

There was once a time when HTC was among the first Android vendors with the latest version of Android, both in terms of updating its existing flagships and offering it on its latest releases.

However, HTC isn't ready to throw the towel just yet. Rumor also has it that the company is working on two other phones, one of which would be a 5G flagship and the other would be Snapdragon-710 fueled mid-ranger. There is another device named Exodus 1 focussed on cryptocurrency but it does not make the list though it is the very last phone launched by the company. The present Android 9 update can probably be considered a final gesture of goodwill for the company's loyal fans.

HTC smartphone owners, rejoice.
