Naby Keita to miss African Cup of Nations

"African Cup of Nations was a big target for him".

The Guinea worldwide ruptured his adductor muscle in the 19th minute of the 3-0 defeat in the Nou Camp and, as a result, he will miss his country's attempt to win this summer's Africa Cup of Nations.

Keita, whose debut season at Anfield has been disrupted by injuries, was beginning to find form and had scored three goals in his previous five appearances for Liverpool. Bad news, he has a high-grade adductor injury; the tendon is ruptured, which keeps him out for at least two months.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp his happy to welcome Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to the squad.

As for Liverpool, they at least have Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back from a long-term injury, with Klopp adding: "It's ideal that Ox is back".

Guinean worldwide Naby Keita first season with Liverpool is done!

Asked about how his side were dealing with the blow of losing heavily to Barcelona, Klopp said: "We didn't need to pick players up in Barcelona and give them a hug".

On the role a fit-again Oxlade-Chamberlain could play Klopp added: "Yeah, of course".

Klopp said: 'It is ideal that he is back.

"But how I said the intensity of the game [must be considered]". But it is very serious and for sure it is not the best moment for him. "But it's nothing good about Naby's injury".

Klopp said he didn't know if Roberto Firmino would feature.

"We needed this kind of player, an offensive player who is quite good in defending as well because we could not ignore the quality of Barcelona". It's in us. If you want to win in football you have to accept that you can lose.
