Rescue underway after two trapped on lift in Oklahoma City

Fire crews have rescued two people stuck in what appears to be window washing lift that got caught in high winds in Oklahoma City.

An emergency rescue was underway in Oklahoma City where two people were trapped on a lift, according to KFOR.

Videos of the incident showed the platform swinging wildly away from near the top of the 50-story Devon Tower in downtown Oklahoma City.

Firefighters told the Oklahoman newspaper that the lift malfunctioned.

Macy said paramedics evaluated both men and both refused treatment.

According to Fulkerson, it is unclear how the lift became stuck, but an investigation is now underway.

David Macy said the two workers were pulled to safety around 8:30 a.m. after rescuers secured the basket with ropes.

"Devon Energy Center creates a focal point for the company and Oklahoma City by integrating civic-scaled spaces as a vital component of its overall development".

"We're thankful for the safety of everyone involved in this incident and rescue, and we're particularly appreciative of the response by the Oklahoma City Police and Fire Departments", Hager said.
