Video Appears Of Kristaps Porzingis After Alleged Altercation In Hometown

Porzingis has experienced a tumultuous offseason since his trade from the New York Knicks to the Dallas Mavericks in February.

The Dallas Mavericks are investigating an altercation involving Kristaps Porzingis this weekend in his native Latvia that left the All-Star bleeding above his right eye.

In the video, an angry Porzingis is shown pushing a female aside as he shouted and moved toward someone out of camera view, perhaps his attackers, but Porzingis appeared to calmed down by a pair of men in uniform.

The team reportedly believes the group of Russians instigated the fight with Porzingis and that he was defending himself. That is when the altercation ensued.

The video appeared to be shot by a bystander, which has been distributed through Troy Hughes on Twitter. He was seen outside the club later with a bloody face.

According to a report from ESPN's Tim MacMahon, the Mavericks' understanding of the incident is that Porzingis was jumped at the club and tried to fight back. "We will provide an update when one is available", the team said in a statement.

It's been a rough offseason for the former Knicks 1st-rounder. In March, a woman accused the National Basketball Association star of raping her in his apartment hours after suffering his knee injury. At the end of March, a report surfaced that Porzingis had been accused of rape in NY, which he continues to deny.

According to TMZ Sports, the people who reportedly jumped Porzingis were Russian New York Knicks fans who were mad at the National Basketball Association star for being traded to the Mavericks.

He also had to sit the second half of the season due to a torn ACL injury. The Knicks traded Porzingis to Dallas in January.

A Porzingis representative has not responded to various media requests at this time.
