Barbara Corcoran says brother 'died of natural causes' in Dominican

The brother of a "Shark Tank" star was found dead in a hotel room in the Dominican Republic, and the death comes after the deaths of six other USA tourists visiting the DR have been brought to light.

Though he was retired, John owned a successful roofing company in New Jersey. Barbara Corcoran was told that he succumbed to a heart attack, but no autopsy was performed, stated.

Corcoran and John were from a family with 10 children, a childhood the TV personality lauded on her social media before her brother's death.

"John Corcoran passed away at the end of April in the DR from what is believed to be natural causes", Emily Burke, Barbara Corcoran's assistant, told Fox News.

The news of his death comes as teams of experts and inspectors from several worldwide agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, conduct tests at the Bahia Principe properties where some of US tourists died.

John Corcoran's death has made headlines amid news that world health officials are investigating numerous hotels in the Dominican Republic after the deaths of several American tourists during stays in the country. The circumstances resemble the deaths of six other USA tourists in the resort destination, according to TMZ.

It is unclear at this time which hotel Barbara's brother was staying, or if he had anything to drink from his room's minibar-an activity that links the mysterious deaths together.

The report noted that the "FBI's involvement has marked the first public indications that officials in the US and the Dominican Republic have considered the possibility of something other than natural causes". At the time, the Dominican Republic National Police said their deaths were likely do to respiratory failure and pulmonary edema. It is believed his death was the result of a heart attack.

The deceased include a 41-year-old woman from Pennsylvania and a Maryland couple who were found dead in their hotel room.

"So this isn't a mystery to us", she said, adding, "It's just the sad loss of a father and grandfather who everyone is missing right now". Robert Bell Wallace, 67, died in April after drinking scotch from the mini bar in his room at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana, the New York Post reports. And there is no evidence that Corcoran's death is related to the six others who have passed away at D.R. luxury resorts since June 2018.
