The Portuguese enjoyed an outstanding 2018/19 season, scoring 31 goals in 50 appearances from an attacking midfield role.

Portuguese outlet, A Bola, reported that Manchester City have ruled out a move for the 24-year old.

Fernandes started as Portugal reached the Nations League final with a 3-1 victory over Switzerland on Wednesday night.

Manchester United fans however took to social media to talk on Bruno's game against Holland and also enjoined the club's chiefs to lure him to Old Trafford.

The rumour in question regards the future of Bruno Fernandes, who it is now suggested City won't be bidding for this summer.

After a torrid 2018-19 season, the summer window is crucial for Manchester United if they are to break into the top four of the Premier League next time out.

Pogba is keen to leave and have Real Madrid and Juventus wanting him but Manchester United are yet to decide whether to cash in on the club's most expensive recruit.

Fernandes has shown over the past year that he is able to score and create in an equal measure from the centre of the park, earning comparisons to Premier League legend Frank Lampard.

He tweeted out that they are working on the "last details" of the deal and that only minor chinks such as commisions have yet to be ironed out.

Since then United, Liverpool and Tottenham have all been said to join the race for the midfielder's signature.

Judging by the form he has been in, Fernandes has the potential to be an excellent addition to this Manchester United side.
