Carson Wentz, Eagles Agree to Four-Year Contract Extension Through 2024

The deal also includes escalators that can boost the value of the extension to $144 million, according to the report.

With the Philadelphia Eagles handing Carson Wentz a four-year, $128 million contract extension on Thursday night, eyes are now on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott as potentially the next signal-caller to earn a new deal. The four-year deal will keep Wentz in the City of Brotherly Love through 2024.

The Eagles followed through on that faith by extending Wentz while he had a year remaining on his rookie contract.

The price for premium quarterbacks is only going to go up, and with Patrick Mahomes eligible for a contract after this season, the cost could soon skyrocket. From the moment I got drafted here, I knew this place was special, I knew they had the most passionate fans in the world, in all of sports, and I knew we had the opportunity to build something truly special and to be cemented here means the world to me. Carson Wentz [through 2024] $30.0 million ...

Wentz played through back issues last season before ultimately shutting down with a stress fracture.

Wentz emerged in the 2017 season and was putting together an MVP-caliber campaign until suffering a season-ending torn ACL injury.

Wentz's 70 touchdowns are sixth-most in National Football League history by a quarterback in his first 40 games, and his 28 interceptions are tied for the fewest among those quarterbacks.

As for the Rams, well this new deal for Wentz will obviously have some sort of impact over the kind of money Goff could be asking for since chances are, the former No. 1 pick will be looking for way more than what his draft classmate is making. He led the team to an 11-2 record and finished the year with 3,296 passing yards, a single-season team record 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions.
