Golovkin marks return with brutal KO of Rolls

Golovkin showcased his devastating power at Madison Square Garden, where the Kazakh star floored Rolls (19-1, 10 KOs) in brutal fashion. After all, there's no place else you could have watched Andy Ruiz Jr. upset former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua with a seventh-round TKO last week.

After a controversial drawn superfight against Canelo in 2017 was followed by that narrow points defeat a year ago, Golovkin now wants to take the Mexican's IBF, WBC and WBA middleweight titles.

Incidentally, Golovkin was hopeful a tune-up with Rolls would be enough to entice the unified champ to sign on for a third, non-decisive matchup.

Despite Rolls seeing some success in the first two rounds, notably with a left-hook in the second, Golovkin soon downloaded his opponent's blueprint and opened up in the third.

Meanwhile, with respect to his most recent victory, GGG said "I love knockouts and I love NY, it was a great night all around".

Reminiscent of the Marco Antonio Rubio knockout back in October of 2014, Golovkin landed a chopping shot on the top of the head, which sent Rolls into another dimension.

Since that time, Canelo has fought twice, most recently adding the IBF Middleweight title in a decision victory over Daniel Jacobs in May. "It is my style to knock people out".

"I wanted a little bit more upbeat, a little bit more rhythm and a little bit more speed", said Banks.

Afterwards, Golovkin made no bones about what he wants next.

Here's everything you need to know to live stream the GGG vs. Rolls fight on DAZN. "Camp's went very well and I'm more than ready to take on this huge task and opportunity presented in front of me". While there have been some questions about the miles on the clock of the 37-year-old, new trainer Johnathan Banks was impressed by what he saw last night. Just ask him, I'm ready.

And who knows, if we're lucky, we may have an undisputed Middleweight champion by 2020.

"I come back to my knockout (ways)", he said.
