Hazard will make the difference at Real Madrid - Courtois

"It has been a year to step back and gain momentum [for Benzema]."Every player is good at Real Madrid and anyone would like to have players like them in their team".

The rumours rumbled on and Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri seemed resigned to losing Hazard following the club's final Premier League game of the season, insisting the club must "respect" the player's final decision.

- Who qualifies for Europe from the Premier League?

Hazard, 28, will be officially presented at the Santiago Bernabeu on Thursday, subject to completing a medical examination.

However, in a chat with AS on Sunday, Laporta questioned the transfer policy of the club vis-à-vis home-grown players.

"If he speaks a little Spanish, it will be even better", he stated.

"It's no secret that it was my dream to play for them [Real Madrid] since I was a young boy just scoring my first goal", Hazard wrote on Facebook.

It ended a glittering seven-year spell at Chelsea where he scored over 100 goals and won six major honours.

Hazard though would do well to match Bale's record in Madrid as he looks to add to the trophies he won at Chelsea, which included two Premier League and two Europa League titles, as well as one FA Cup and one League Cup. "I think [Hazard] is going to make the difference and I hope we can win many titles next season".

"Before I go, one last thank you to everyone at the Club for their tremendous effort as we lived through every moment".

Real Madrid have always been touted as the ultimate destination for Hazard.

After the Chelsea's 4-1 Europa League final win over Arsenal last month, Hazard all but confirmed he was quitting Stamford Bridge.

Courtois, whose first season in Madrid resulted in a third-place finish in LaLiga, is expecting big things from Hazard in the Spanish top flight.

There is no official confirmation of the fee but media reports suggest with bonus payments it could exceed €168 million.

Information from Reuters was used in this report.
