Man City fans in epic meltdown after Premier League puts Liverpool first

Liverpool's pre-season plans have descended into farce with the club ready to cancel their final work-out because it clashes with the opening game of the new Premier League campaign.

The Christmas period could be where Newcastle pick up some valuable points, with Newcastle facing Sheffield United, Southampton, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Everton, along with a hard Boxing Day trip to Old Trafford.

The first Merseyside derby of the season will come in December, with Everton travelling to Anfield provisionally on the 4th December.

Ryan Bennett was a part of that but on paper, he looks the weakest of the defensive options Santo preferred last season and Tarkowski would be a clear upgrade on the former Norwich man.

Champions League qualification is a minimum requirement for both clubs, who each won their respective home game in this fixture last season.

Paul Lambert's side kick-off the League One season on Saturday August 3, as the Blues begin their quest to return to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Newcastle United will begin the 2019/20 Premier League campaign at home to Arsenal on August 11th.

Due to policing and logistical reasons, the two East Anglian rivals are paired in the fixture process and are never scheduled to play home games on the same day.

City only edged Liverpool by a point in last season's thrilling duel but would appear to have the easier run-in this time round should the title go down to the wire once more.

And the final game of the campaign is set to be against Newcastle on May 17 at St James' Park. Marco Silva's side play Liverpool, Chelsea, United and Arsenal in successive matches during December.

Subscribers can watch all 52 of these matches as City bid to win a third title in succession having been pushed all the way by Klopp's Liverpool in 2018/19.

We'll just have to wait and see.
