Police Detail Man’s Threat Behind Panic at DC LGBTQ Parade

The president, Ashley Smith of Capital Pride Alliance, said he saw people running toward him from Dunpont Circle.

The unidentified man turned into once taken into custody all the draw through Saturday night time's parade and is facing a gun possession payment, police mentioned.

Police said some of the people who ran sustained minor injuries and others transported to hospitals.

"As the officers were going to that scene there was a crowd of people running away from it", Rivera said.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Dupont Circle for the parade when people started running after hearing what they thought was gunshots.

"As people were coming down, I did hear a few loud bangs, which were obviously the cause of additional panic, but they were probably just the sound of the temporary barriers getting knocked down as people were trying to leave the scene".

Donahue said in a tweet that there is no gunman. An officer stopped Singh and noticed what appeared to be a silver handgun sticking out of his brown bag that was underneath a tree, the report said.

Police, at the outset of the incident, received a report of a man with a gun at a park, Washington police Commander Guillermo Rivera told reporters.

Police recovered a gun from a backpack, but no gunshots were fired, said a police spokesman.

The police arrested him and seized his BB gun - a type of air gun created to shoot metallic ball projectiles - from his brown bag.

"We can't enable this incident to fracture the pleasure celebration occurring this weekend", Smith mentioned.

City officials say no shots were fired at the annual Pride event but several people did sustain minor injuries when attendees scattered in fear, toppling over metal crowd control barriers, USA Today reports.

The man, named in USA media as Aftabjit Singh, allegedly sent the crowd running through the streets of Washington, DC, on Saturday after wielding what appeared to be a gun.
