Rangers suffer transfer blow as Leeds approach Ryan Kent

Twelve months on, Jurgen Klopp has not moved out of this move, as the German remains keen on the attacking midfielder.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently admitted that Fekir will be allowed to leave this summer.

Liverpool continue to be linked with a transfer for Lille star Nicolas Pepe this summer but Anfield chiefs have a theory on the rumours.

However, with the club still wanting around £45million for a player with just 12 months left on his contract it would benefit the Ligue 1 club if they can generate an auction for his services.

Similar to Virgil Van Dijk and Naby Keita at their old clubs, Nabil Fekir's head was turned and did not have a proper season with Lyon.

Fekir was part of the French squad that lifted the World Cup in Russian Federation a year ago and enjoyed another productive season at Lyon.

The Reds paid £52.4 million, which almost accounts to €57 million last summer.

The fee he quotes is €30 million, which would be around £26.7 million. He said: "We have an understanding that he can go".

The reigning Champions League winners would welcome the move for Nabil Fekir, as he would add more firepower to the frontline.

Manchester City and Bayern Munich are the other clubs to keep an eye on him.

Both the Rangers manager and Kent are products of the Reds youth development system and the latter is known to idolize the Gers boss having grown up watching him captain Liverpool with distinction.

While it was widely believed that the deal was dead and Fekir could not be expected to join the Reds in the future, journalists in France have now claimed otherwise.

Here's how Twitter has reacted.
