Just days after making his national team debut against El Salvador in a friendly, the 18-year-old has agreed terms with the 13-time European champions.

The talanted playmaker was offered a pre-contract by the Spanish club after exelling in the academy between for three years but after the incident he moved back to Japan where his meteoric rise continued at FC Tokyo.

Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Japan wonderkid Takefusa Kubo, beating FC Barcelona to the signature of the Japan global.

Real Madrid said in a statement on their official website: "Takefusa Kubo will come in to strengthen the Castilla ranks next season".

Kubo was previously on the books of Barcelona and was linked with a return to Madrid's LaLiga rivals, with Paris Saint-Germain also said to be interested.

They described Kubo as "an attacking midfielder with excellent technique and great vision for the game".

Real Madrid announced the signing on their Twitter account, along with some of the skilful teen star's highlights.

His first Spanish stint ended in hard circumstances as, following three seasons in the Barcelona system, he returned to Japan after the club was hit by a transfer ban for breaching Federation Internationale de Football Association rules on the recruitment of junior players from overseas.

He joined FC Tokyo and made history in the J League when he became the competition's youngest ever player, aged 15 years, five months and a day.

Kubo is considered a likely selection for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, where the men's soccer tournament will be contested by Under-23 teams with a limited number of overage players.
