'Russian Doll' Returning for Season 2 on Netflix

A release date has yet to be announced.

Following the same format as season 1, Russian Doll will return with eight episodes.

Led by Orange Is the New Black favorite Natasha Lyonne, Russian Doll follows New York-based software engineer Nadia Vulvokov as she relives her 36th birthday on an endless time loop, the cycle starting over again after she inevitably dies.

Lyonne, who co-created the show with Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland, announced the show's renewal at the CODE Conference in Arizona, reported Variety. I know you probably have things to do in your life, but also that is a mistake you've very clearly made and you need to fix it. Headland revealed to The Hollywood Reporter in a January 2019 interview that she, Lyonne, and Poehler actually pitched Russian Doll to Netflix as a three-season series.

Viewers will get to see the next layer of "Russian Doll".

On Wednesday, the show confirmed on its Twitter account that Netflix had renewed it for a second season. When Nadia sets out to unravel the mystery of her time loop, she meets a man named Alan (Charlie Bennett) stuck in a similar loop to her, and the two journey deep into their own emotional states as they seek out answers.

For those who've seen the show, you can tell that focus paid off: Russian Doll is unashamedly odd, continually taking the story in unexpected directions, while sticking to snappy 30-minute episodes flawless for the Netflix platform.

Let's just hope that algorithm keeps doing its job, so those of us wanting more like Russian Doll don't have to miss out. The more you guys this can be, the better.
