Square Enix Assembles AVENGERS Cast Of Non-Actionable Likenesses

With the CGI trailer and subsequent information from Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix though, we know enough about the game's overall structure and direction, even if we haven't seen it play yet.

Earth's most lucrative heroes will reassemble in May 2020 with Marvel's Avengers, Square Enix announced today, to kick off a story that'll unfold over several years of updates. Official intel of the highly anticipated event came by way of the Square Enix press briefing at E3 on Monday night with confirmation.

A description on the YouTube trailer offers a better idea of what to expect: "an epic action-adventure game that combines cinematic storytelling with single-player and co-operative gameplay".

Marvel's Avengers can be played in co-op and the story will be expanded in the future, adding in more heroes from the universe to play as.

"'Marvel's Avengers' begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco - including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source".

Marvel's Avengers wants to have its cake and eat it, which means lots of work for Crystal Dynamics and its half-dozen or so development partners.

Crystal Dynamics' Creative Director Shaun Escayg and Marvel Games' Vice President Bill Rosemann were also on hand to explain the game's premise. Five years after A-Day, the Avengers have disbanded. Nolan North will inhabit Tony Stark, Troy Baker will be Bruce Banner, Laura Bailey gets mysterious as Black Widow, Jeff Schine leads the team as Captain America, and Travis Willingham will be Thor. Concerning Marvel's Avengers gameplay, the developer stated that its goal was to make each character feel unique, as if the game itself was tailored to that specific character when exploring the narrative campaign. He shrunk a huge robot using a weapon and we believe it could be Hank Pym aka Ant-Man.

Marvel's Avengers is also set to have a roadmap of DLC available for free, with no loot boxes or pay to win scenarios.
