Taylor Swift Announces New Album 'Lover,' New Single

Swift teased the song via an Instagram Live (which itself was teased beforehand), in which she also announced the album's name, Lover, and August 23 release date. "Lover" is set to release August 23 and will feature 18 tracks.

The best lyric all is when Taylor sings, "And control your urges to scream about the people you hate / 'Cause shade never made anybody less gay". A coincidence? Possibly. Either way, the social media platform was back up and running a few hours later.

Taylor Swift's second single from her seventh album is finally here, titled "You Need To Calm Down".

The single comes after Swift broke a long-held silence on political matters earlier this month to urge listeners to send letters to their senators calling for them to back a pro-LGBT law in the United States called the Equality Act.

"In the "Me!' music video there were a lot of foreshadowing clues", the performer also admitted, adding that she's beyond impressed with her fans" dedication in finding all her hidden Easter Eggs.

Often the number 13 is included in these hints as it's Swift's favourite number.

"You need to calm down!" he says, to which she yells, "I am calm!" At The Disco's Brendon Urie said to Swift in the music video for ME!

As you might recall, the word "Lover" appeared prominently on that video - in fact, it was so prominent, that fans thought there was no way it would be hidden in such plain sight.

That reference comes just over a month after Swift donated a fair chunk of change toTennessee Equality Project, an organisation which barracks for the civil rights of LGBTQIA+ folks in the state. "Sunshine on the street at the parade / But you would rather be in the dark ages / Makin' that sign must've taken all night". "Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-ohhhh / you need to calm down / you're being too loud".

Taylor Swift performs at Wango Tango in California. A couple months ago, she released "ME!" She posted the letter to Instagram.

"For the release of the Lover album, there's going to be the release of a collab with Stella McCartney", Swift confirmed. The location tag was set to "Let's Be Friends".
