Borderlands 3 Will Have a Ping System

Borderlands 3 Will Have a Ping System

During Friday's panel "Borderlands 3: At the Corner of Social and Streaming", Gearbox shared new details about three key aspects of the Borderlands 3 experience: social features, livestreaming tools, and accessibility options.

The host of accessibility features include the ability to remap controls regardless of the platform you play Borderlands 3 on, Xbox Adaptive Controller compatibility - which would go hand-in-hand with the controller remapping feature - extensive support for subtitles and closed captioning that includes text size and opacity options. This new mechanic will help making playing Borderlands 3 with a friend even more streamlined.

Since the announcement of Borderlands 3, it has been clear that the Gearbox game will keep the same soul as the previous chapters, despite the arrival of some news. The game will also have rich Discord integration, activity group-based matchmaking, and will also have asynchronous matchmaking, meaning you can play content while the game finds players for you that are interested in the same material.

The previously announced ECHOcast Twitch Extension will allow you to view the inventories of streamers, as well as spawn Badass enemies, buffing or debuffing the streamer as they fight them. You'll also be able to toggle auto-mantling and aim-assist options.

Chief of all these is the new ping system; very much of the rage at the moment, the video below shows how you'll be able to ping objects, enemies and positions and, naturally loot - and more - to communicate without using a mic.

Borderlands 3 is still a couple of months away, but it's shaping up to be the biggest entry in the franchise to date.

Borderlands 3 is now under development by Gearbox Software and will be published by 2K Games offering both single player and multiplayer modes in an action role-playing game built on the Unreal Engine 4.

Borderlands 3 will be released on September 13, 2019, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and will also arrive on Google Stadia later this year.
