Bruno Fernandes agrees terms with Manchester United as desperation grows

Sporting Lisbon are said to be on the brink of signing his replacement, paving the way for his exit.

However, the Daily Star are citing a report from Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha [above] that claims Fernandes has his heart set on joining Man Utd and is relaxed about the move as he feels a deal will eventually be agreed.

In 53 matches across all competitions, Fernandes had a fantastic return of 32 goals and 18 assists, making him one of the most prolific players in all of Europe.

Manchester United have already completed deals to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, but they are still being linked with a number of other names.

The Portugal star has been linked with a big-money move to Old Trafford this summer. It's going to be hard to keep him.

As far as the credibility of the Premier League's trio's interest goes, United seem far and away the most likely option as they look to continue their rebuild with young, exciting players who will be allured by United's reputation but not deterred by a lack of Champions League football.

The Sporting Lisbon president Frederico Varandas and Sporting Director Hugo Viana were spotted heading into Manchester in recent weeks according to the Liverpool ECHO. The latest faint noise is that representatives of Bruno Fernandes were spotted near the city recently.

He admitted: "I want Bruno Fernandes to stay, but everyone knows the current situation".

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his side are on a pre-season tour in Australia.

Fernandes emerged as a top United transfer target at the start of the summer but so far the Red Devils are yet to make an official approach for the Portugal global midfielder - despite rumours that a deal is close to being concluded.
