Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reveals new Gunfight mode

So far, we know that the game has an ambitious single-player campaign, includes the return of Captain Price (albeit with a new voice actor), and will bring back the Modern Warfare series' popular Spec Ops co-op mode, last seen in 2011's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

You will be able to watch the Call of Duty Modern Warfare stream on the channels of CourageJD, TeePee, LEGIQN, and ProSyndicate. The first team to win six rounds wins the match.

Modern Warfare will introduce a 2v2 multiplayer mode called Gunfight according to Activision on Thursday. It streamlines Call of Duty multiplayer significantly-you don't mess around with equipment, Killstreaks, or loadouts when you fire up a match.

Two teams with two players each are put on a tiny map and have 40 seconds to find and defeat the other team.

That changes with the announcement of a new multiplayer game type coming in Modern Warfare, called "Gunfight". If either team captures and defends that point for three seconds, they'll win the round and earn a point. Three maps will be available at launch: King, the interior of a warehouse; Pine, the outskirts of a dense forest; and Stack, a desert container yard. There are even rules that force the rounds to come to a quick close should the teams take too long to kill each other. The flag will only spawn though if one or both players of each duo are still alive when Overtime starts. The mode is an excellent reminder of what gives Call of Duty's multiplayer its lasting popularity. Infinity Ward is showing off the rest of its multiplayer offerings in a livestream on Twitch at 10 a.m. on August 1.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will go on sale on October 25 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
