Kyrie Irving Brooklyn Nets Trade Deal Officially CONFIRMED

The two-time NBA Finals MVP had previously worn the number 35 at every level of competition, from his college career at The University of Texas to his most recent stint at the Golden State Warriors.

The perennial All-Star and two-time National Basketball Association champion, ranking third among active players with 22,940 points, has been National Basketball Association top scorer on four occasions, but last season suffered a calf injury and then an Achilles rupture which will rule him out of playing next season.

"Kevin is a champion, perennial All-Star, and one of the great players of this, or any, generation", Nets general manager Sean Marks said in a statement. The four-time National Basketball Association scoring champion revealed on social media that he'll be sporting No. 7 with Brooklyn. He missed most of this past season's playoffs, first with a calf injury and then the Achilles rupture during the NBA Finals - a series Golden State lost to Toronto in six games.

Russell got a $117 million, four-year contract from the Warriors.

Over eight seasons with Boston and Cleveland, Irving has averaged 22.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.3 steals over 508 career games. "We wish him, Shabazz and Treveon nothing but the best in the years ahead".

Was Kyrie Irving's decision to sign with the Brooklyn Nets known before it even happened? "His ability to play both ends of the floor in addition to his exceptional shooting will make him an integral contributor to our franchise and our postseason goals". While the Nets lost those series against the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs, Irving hopes to bring a championship to his "hometown" franchise in the very near future.
