Man Utd Close In On Signing Sean Longstaff

Man Utd Close In On Signing Sean Longstaff

The Red Devils are expected to want to pay a maximum £25m for the 21-year-old with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer vowing to walk away from over-priced targets.

However, it seems that the progress made by the club was overestimated in that regard and that concrete negotiations are being held only now.

'We're still in the market looking to do some business but we're patient, ' said Solskjaer. We don't have to sell and don't have to overpay.

Without doubt, the above mentioned price tag is extremely high taking into consideration that the player has played very few games and he has been out of action since March due to a knee injury.

Newcastle's stance is apparently that they don't want to lose Longstaff at any cost, but few supporters will have any faith they'll show a backbone or refuse a bumper bid if one comes in.

"Apparently it is because of the Wan-Bissaka deal who is of a similar age and that is where it looks like Newcastle are setting their sights".

The club have already picked up Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Swansea and Crystal Palace, respectively.

Nevertheless, though, despite having made just 12 appearances this season, the Magpies' starlet seemingly did enough to pique the interest of one of the Premier League's heavyweights.

"But if you are Newcastle I am not so sure that you are that motivated a seller, they are sorting out a lot of issues at the moment".

As per a report from Sky Sports News, though Sean Longstaff remains committed to Newcastle, the youngster is nevertheless keen to open discussions with Manchester United over a potential move to Old Trafford.

According to the Daily Mail, United are unwilling to go above £20m and were shocked when they were Newcastle asked for more than double that.
