Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh Will Both Play Superman In Crisis Crossover

During the last Arrowverse crossover "Elseworlds", Tyler Hoechlin's Superman got to meet Grant Gustin's The Flash and Stephen Amell's Green Arrow.

Heroic Hollywood's Umberto Gonzalez has revealed that Brandon Routh will portray the Kingdom Come version of Superman in Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Deadline is reporting that DC's Legends of Tomorrow star Brandon Routh will return as Superman in the CW's Arrowverse crossover "Crisis on Infinite Earths".

The CW's Arrowverse crossover events do a terrific job with introducing new characters and intertwining great stories. Arriving two years before the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and, therefore, the concept of share movie universes in general), the flick was well-received, with critics singling out the performances of Routh and Kevin Spacey (as Lex Luthor) for praise. Tyler Hoechlin plays the part in the Arrowverse, having shown up on Supergirl, Arrow and The Flash in past episodes.

The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, and Batwoman will air this fall on The CW.

Either way, the Crisis on Infinite Earths Arrowverse crossover will run for five episodes, starting in December 2019 and finishing in January 2020. And now, this year's event is set to bring not one, but two Supermen into battle.

The CW will be hosting an Arrowverse panel on Saturday night at San Diego Comic-Con where the formal announcement of this news is expected to be made.

Of course, as awesome as it was, fans will remember that the comics storyline - which ran for 12 issues in 1985 and 1986 - served a higher objective than simply bringing all of DC's heroes together for an epic throwdown. In the comics, Crisis On Infinite Earths deals with alternate Earths and universes, which explains how the Brandon Routh version will appear in the series. However, Supergirl takes place on Earth-38.
