USWNT Player Has Hotel Room Burglarized, Key to City Stolen After ESPY's

A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson told People that the door to Long's hotel room was not locked at the time of the break in.

Long was staying at the Ritz Carlton in downtown Los Angeles, less than a quarter-mile from Microsoft Theatre, where the ESPYs were held.

Long tweeted Thursday that someone stole her belongings after ESPN's 2019 ESPY Awards (where the team took home the Best Team title).

Long and her teammates were honored in NY on Wednesday with a ticker-tape parade and celebration, during which Mayor Bill de Blasio presented each player with a key to the city. According to Long, her wedding ring, cash, and a key to New York City were missing.

The investigation is underway. Do you make copies @NYCMayor? "I would love a new one", she wrote.

Mayor de Blasio responded to Long Friday morning on Twitter.

Investigators are now interviewing witnesses and studying surveillance footage from the night of the robbery, Ramirez said.

The U.S. women's national soccer team defeated the Netherlands, 2-0, on Sunday to claim its second consecutive World Cup. Like any good New Yorker, we keep a spare for our neighbors! Later that day, the team flew to Los Angeles to attend the ESPYs, where they won an award for "Best Team". "We got you covered", the mayor's response read. She made light of the situation on Instagram with a photo of her and husband Jose Batista in "USA Beat Everybody" T-shirts and Long shown biting her gold medal.
