Individuals who receive an invitation via email for the Apple Card Preview can begin by accessing their iPhone Wallet app or by going to Settings, then Wallet and Apple Pay on their iPad.

Branded primarily as a digital credit card, the Apple Card works with the Apple Pay function available on customers' iPhones and Apple Watches. The fine print says the card has no foreign exchange fees, annual fees, and late fees.

The company has also reassured customers that Goldman Sachs will not market its products through this partnership, or sell any data to third parties. Apple will offer 3 percent cash back on any Apple product, including in-store and App Store, purchased with the card using the iPhone, as well as 2 percent cash back on any other purchase. "Among 18-29 year-olds, over half (52%) are aware of the Apple Card". Users would have to enter their personal information like their address, birth date, income level and last four digits of social security number, news portal GSMArena reported on Tuesday. Approved users can also request the titanium card for free during the setup and the physical card will be sent to the mail later.

Granted, it's not almost as cool as actually owning the shiny metal card and flashing it in front of your friends, but at least you have something to do until the card becomes available to you. "It joins Apple Music, iCloud, the App Store, AppleCare+, and other initiatives in Apple's portfolio of services meant to pull more lifetime revenue from users in the face of more infrequent smartphone updates", observes Samuel Axon for Ars Technica. But others offer a glimpse into what the world might look like if one day we abandoned physical credit cards altogether.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, speaks during an Apple special event at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, U.S., March 25, 2019. Those numbers are even higher among younger credit card customers. It's an interesting move on Apple's part, and it's bringing its consumer tech knowledge to bear in crafting the card from sign-up to payment. This is highlighted by the fact that the Apple Card application option is present on the screen any time you add a new credit card or debit card to Apple Pay now. All other purchases get you a stingy 1% back, though unlike other cards, rewards are credited back daily, not at the end of a billing cycle.
