Dark Mode is coming to the Facebook Android app

There's a good reason for this - they can look extremely clean, unobtrusive, and minimalistic, all the while giving ample room for vibrant colors to shine when and where they're needed.

Wong notes in her blog that Facebook's new FB5 app design is exceptionally bright and nearly entirely white, making it potentially harmful to people's eyesight when used in dark environments.

Pretty much all tech giants are now incorporating Dark Mode in their apps, services, OS.

Something to look forward to: Virtually every app, browser, and operating system has a dark mode option these days, but Facebook's main app had been a notable holdout-until now.

Facebook is still working on Dark Mode for its main app and it's going to be a while before the company makes the feature public. By waiting, Facebook will be able to learn from the experiences of developers who have been quicker to create dark modes for their apps. According to Jane, dark mode is in "early development" and with an app the size of Facebook, it could take some time to implement it across the entire app. For now, only certain parts of the app has been reworked to support the Dark Mode.
