Donald Trump said he’s going to do ‘something’ about hate groups

Connor Betts, 24, opened fire in Dayton's OR entertainment district early Sunday morning, killing nine people, including his 22-year-old sister, before officers fatally shot him within 30 seconds of the start of his rampage.

President Trump spoke to reporters ahead of his visits to El Paso and Dayton and remarked that his critics have failed to mention that the Dayton shooter was an avowed leftist who seemed to champion left-wing individuals and causes.

As he left the White House, Mr Trump said that he wanted to strengthen background checks for gun purchases and ensure mentally ill people did not carry guns.

During his presidency, Mr Trump has described predominantly Latin American migrants seeking asylum in the U.S. "invaders", "illegals" and "criminals", and he has also instituted an immigration ban that has targeted people from predominantly Muslim countries.

The White House described Trump's trip, which took place mostly behind closed doors, as a bid to console survivors and emergency workers in the two cities.

"I've said before Donald Trump is a bully and bullies are cowards", he said. "I'm glad he did it in those hospital rooms", Brown said. "You can come to my house and workout", she said.

Trump's motorcade passed El Paso protesters holding "Racist Go Home" signs. Mr Melendez, an Army veteran and the son of Mexican immigrants, said he holds only the shooter responsible for the attack. "No one's words would have triggered that". And Trump spent part of his flight between OH and Texas airing his grievances on Twitter, berating Democratic lawmakers, O'Rourke and the press. Much of the city identifies as Hispanic or Latino and the suspect is thought to be the author of a text posted online which said "this attack is a response to the Hispanic invasion of Texas".

The president talked about his campaign rally earlier this year in El Paso, insisting that twice as many people were outside the arena as were inside.

"I'm equally as angered by those two as I am with the person who took my brother and his wife from me, typing this I think I feel more animosity towards those two evil politicians", she added.
