Fliers: Flight Attendant So Drunk We Had to Do Her Seat Belt

A flight attendant working a route between Chicago and South Bend, IN was arrested after passengers complained about her behavior while in flight.

A flight attendant who passengers believed was drunk is facing charges after a video surfaced showing her slumped in her seat on a plane.

March was still on her probationary period and had only been working as a flight attendant for a few months, a source said.

She told the officers she was not on any medication and they could smell alcohol on her breath.

According to the South Bend Tribune, the incident occurred on a flight between Chicago and South Bend, Indiana on August 2.

March was a probationary flight attendant who was only working a few months and was sacked because she didn't complete the probationary time period, a source told ABC News.

A Breathalyzer test showed that her BAC was 0.204, five times over the limit for flight attendants.

"The Flight Attendant involved in this incident is no longer an employee of the company", an Air Wisconsin spokesperson told ABC.

"She was stumbling, and kind of staggering back and forth, bumping into passengers - she was zig zagging up and down the aisle", said Aaron Scherb who was on the flight.

"Given the significant safety and security roles that flight attendants have, United (and other airlines) should consider adopting zero tolerance policies for flight attendants going forward", he continued.

'We will continue to cooperate with local authorities and assist them as necessary'.

Scherb spoke to ABC News about the compensation he received for the incident, saying United Airlines offered him $500 or 25,000 miles. She had been the only flight attendant on board for the journey.

March was charged with criminal public intoxication, a misdemeanor, according to the reports. Her next court date is scheduled for August 29. On July 31, a Delta Airline pilot was arrested in Minnesota and accused of being drunk.
