Harry Styles won't play Prince Eric in 'The Little Mermaid' after all

Cape Town - Harry Styles will not play Prince Eric in Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. Not so fast! It looks like these reports were incorrect, and Styles is not in the movie after all.

The Wrap first reported the news of Styles rejecting the role. The DisInsider has been recently informed that Styles has officially signed on to the project.

Disney's animated The Little Mermaid made over $211 million at the box office and became a bestseller on home video, popularizing songs like "Under The Sea" and "Part of Your World". Another user wrote that "halle bailey as princess ariel and harry styles as prince eric will be ICONIC to say the least. ideal casting". That gives them plenty of time to recast the role of Prince Eric, and according to TheWrap, they're already close to naming Styles' replacement. In other words, there's always a chance McCarthy, Tremblay, Awkwafina, and Bardem could make like Styles and walk away.

Styles seemed like an ideal fit for the part that would require singing thanks to new songs form the team of Alan Menken and Lin -Manuel Miranda.

Some expressed suspicion, realizing that the information is based on rumors and suspicion and writing, "i want to fully believe harry will play prince eric but i also have trust issues".

Rob Marshall (Mary Poppins Returns) is directing The Little Mermaid remake as well as producing alongside Marc Platt, John DeLuca and Miranda, and production is expected to start early next year. On one of her visits to the surface, which are forbidden by her controlling father, King Triton, she falls for a human prince.
