Heavy rain for some with Monday evening storms

Dry conditions and seasonable temperatures will continue on Monday, Aug. 12, which will be mostly sunny, a bit more humid but again pleasant with a high in the low 80s. This will be the boundary that strong to severe storms may start to develop and move along through the early afternoon.

Some thunder is also possible, but no severe weather is expected.

The cluster of storms will likely become more of a line during the evening hours as they continue to drop south across the region. Highs will be in the mid-to-upper 80s.

Plan on a large complex of showers and storms now over western Iowa to make steady progress east this morning.

That system is likely to deliver severe storms into the Midwest on Monday - with threats of damaging winds, a few tornadoes, flashing flooding or hail - and then move farther East on Tuesday.

THE REST OF THE WEEK: A stray shower could linger into Wednesday morning, but most of the area remains dry.

Here's a little more detailed, local look at the rain and storms that approach into early Tuesday.
