Man pushes birthday-gift BMW into a river

The man, identified only as Akash, told police he was mad because his parents knew he wanted the more expensive auto but got him the BMW anyway.

A 22-year-old man pushed a brand-new BMW into a river because he didn't like the auto he received as a birthday gift. It is unclear if they managed to get the BMW out of the water.

Video footage has been doing the rounds showing the vehicle sinking in a river in Yamunanagar, Haryana state in Northern India.

A group of men begin pulling the auto from the river.

Akash shared a video on social media of his brand new auto floating away.

The 22-year-old man was identified only as Akash; according to police, he has a mental deficiency and is undergoing treatment.

A man allegedly sank his BMW into a river because he was angry his parents didn't buy him a Jaguar.

In India, a BMW costs roughly $50,000 while a Jaguar can cost around $70,000. "His family had sold the [Toyota] Innova they had received from his in-laws to buy him the BMW", he said.

"We could only afford to give him a BMW, while he kept on insisting that he be given a Jaguar", he said. "He deliberately pushed (the) luxury vehicle BMW into the river", a police report said.

"We never imagined he would do anything like this".

"When the youth was plunging the high-end BMW vehicle into the river, he also made a video and put it on social media", a police official was quoted by the Indo-Asian News Service.
