National Football League forms social justice partnership with Jay-Z, Roc Nation

Of their new deal, he and his agency, Roc Nation, are co-producers of the Super Bowl halftime show.

"Roc Nation is one of the most globally influential and impactful organizations in entertainment", said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. "The NFL and Roc Nation share a vision of inspiring meaningful social change across our country".

While we still don't know who will perform at next year's Super Bowl, Jennifer Lopez recently spoke with ET about whether she'd head up the halftime show. Jay-Z himself dedicated a song to Kaepernick during a headlining festival set in 2017 and wore a makeshift "Colin K" jersey on SNL a month later. He has turned down invitations to perform at the Super Bowl, as has Rihanna. Even if the league wanted to honor Atlanta's rap legacy, it seemed unlikely any major Atlanta rappers would sign on to perform.

Maroon 5 ended up headlining the halftime show this year, alongside Travis Scott and Outkast's Big Boi. Goodell told the times, "We don't want people to come in and necessarily agree with us; we want people to come in and tell us what we can do better".

Superstar music mogul Jay-Z joins the ranks of the mega rich as his assets in music and art push him past the $1 billion mark; "John Wick" star Keanu Reeves is reportedly in early talks for a role in the new superhero flick, 'The Eternals'. Through this initiative, NFL teams and the league office work with the Players Coalition and other NFL players to support programs and initiatives that reduce barriers to opportunity, with a focus on three priority areas: education and economic advancement; police and community relations; and criminal justice reform. National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell said in an interview he hopes Jay-Z will perform sometime in the next several years but, "I think we'll all know if that time comes". They are not revealing the financial terms of the agreement.
