'The Morning Show' Trailer: Aniston, Carell and Witherspoon

This fall, she finally returns to TV as one of the three huge stars on The Morning Show, one of Apple's first original series.

Early-morning TV is ripe for drama and that's exactly what we can expect from the new Jennifer Aniston-Reese Witherspoon series, The Morning Show. Aniston, meanwhile, says, "I can guarantee that you are underestimating me".

The company posted a teaser Monday of "The Morning Show".

Aniston and Witherspoon play "two ambitious, aspirational female characters", as the latter said in March, while Carell portrays Mitch Kessler, an anchor struggling to maintain relevancy in the ever-changing media world.

"I feel like people are screaming for honest conversation", the actor - an Acton native - can be heard saying as the camera travels along darkened hallways behind the scenes at the show. According to Apple, the drama will provide "an inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, exploring the unique challenges faced by the women (and men) who carry out this daily televised ritual".

Created by Michael Ellenberg, it's loosely based on Brian Stelter's book Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV and executive produced by Aniston and Witherspoon, along with showrunner Kerry Ehrin (Bates Motel) and director Mimi Leder (The Leftovers).

A 10-episode second season has already been ordered ahead of the first. Witherspoon previously worked with Aniston on two episodes of Friends, playing Rachel's sister Jill.

Apple's taking a bite out of the early-morning news cycle.

While there's no official release date yet, Apple TV+ is set to debut some time this fall.
