The real reasons why Arsenal and Everton failed in signing Wilfried Zaha

The Toffees have made seven additions to their squad over the summer with deadline-day signing Alex Iwobi joining Djibril Sidibe, Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph, Jonas Lossl, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Moise Kean at Goodison Park.

"He handled it very well but the crowd helped, it was such a great reception", said Hodgson, the Palace manager.

But Barnes believes other clubs will not allow Zaha to play as freely as he does with the Eagles.

Roy Hodgson is planning to utilise Wilfried Zaha against Everton in some capacity on Saturday despite admitting the Ivory Coast forward "is not jubilant" at the prospect of facing the club who tried to sign him. Fans will react in the way they feel they should react.

"I hope they'll be sympathetic to him".

"But whatever happens, Wilf will have to deal with that, just as he has had to deal with his disappointment over the last few days".

He continued: "I trust him totally".

"I don't have any issues with him. But it would be nice if our fans can draw a line under it and give him the support he needs". I'm expecting Wilf to go out and do what he has done during the two years that I have been here.

"Because there is no question that he has any disrespect for myself, the staff, the players and the coaches, not at all".

"His contribution really has been vast and I am delighted that he has agreed to pledge his long term future to Crystal Palace".

The article says that Chelsea FC are "convinced" that they will be able to overturn their transfer ban by the January window and they are taking note of Zaha's situation.

Zaha has now taken matters in to his own hands in order to force through a transfer, and failed to report for the club's training session this morning.

Asked if he was concerned about losing Zaha when the transfer window re-opens, Hodgson replied: "We are in August!"

"All the clubs here know how good he is and are capable of paying the transfer fee, and I'm not sure all the European ones can".
